When to stop, and when to refer to a specialist or a hospital — this knowledge is the mark of a safe physician.
Every system has its limits, and a good physician knows those limits clearly. Chest pain, breathing difficulty, faintness, convulsions, severe bleeding, complications in pregnancy, dehydration in a child, or an abnormal state with high fever — in such emergencies, the duty is to send the patient to a hospital or emergency department without a moment's delay.
In doubtful or complex cases, carrying out necessary investigations and taking a specialist's opinion is not weakness — rather, it is proof of responsibility towards the patient. Admitting a mistake and referring to the right place can save a patient's life.
All the lessons in this education section are summaries of general knowledge and classical teaching. No lesson is an instruction for diagnosis or treatment — every patient's treatment should take place under the direct supervision of an experienced physician.
